South West London’s favourite group of home-grown punk troubadours, The Fades, unleash their first new songs in four years – bringing back swagger, charisma and, let’s face it, sheer animal magnetism to a scene desperately in need of sex, drugs and rock n roll!
London, July, 2020. Kicking down walls, punching through windows, and ripping down a statue or two on the way, the mighty fists of punk rock purists The Fades are back and ready to laugh in the face of 2020, with the vinyl release of their critically acclaimed, indie monster – RAGNAROK! The Fades have been busy with numerous successful projects since the release of 2016’s The Blackdrop EP, but with the spiralling lunacy of 2020 the band has been inspired to remaster and relaunch their boisterous masterpiece on vinyl, as the perfect soundtrack to accompany our tragicomic march into oblivion, complete with brand new music in the form of 'So Much Better and 'The Comedian'. |
“Arguably the best garage rock album since Songs for the Deaf, 5/5" – Louderthanwar.com
Discussing the upcoming re-release, which includes new belters ‘So Much Better’ and ‘The Comedian’, guitarist Jonny shared the inspiration behind the new songs and why now is the right time to rework Ragnarok: “How can a person stay silent during these times, let alone a punk rock band? The growing sense of intense aggravation regarding anything Brexit-related, the UK being sold off cheaply by crooks, to crooks, for a quick buck while we all suffer and now for the world to be engulfed in the fires of coronavirus!
“It’s important to be with friends and family now, to speak out against injustice, to criticise the government – who are competent only in serving themselves – and most of all, to enjoy and make music.”
The louche axe master went on to add: “We needed to say something, we needed to make some noise and we needed to be together. We were recording the new tracks as lockdown was looming in late February. There was such energy in the studio, and despite the horror story unfolding outside, we all felt that somehow what we were doing was important.”

“The best thing to come out of Richmond since the Yardbirds” – John Moore
‘So Much Better’ is result of that energy, placing The Fades front and centre in the strange days of 2020.
‘So Much Better’ expresses the desire to seize the day and take advantage of life – it’s now or never. To hear and download the earth-shaking new ‘So Much Better’, and give your eardrums the thorough bashing they deserve. |
